Most business owners pick a marketing agency based on price or the look of its Instagram page. Those are the two weakest signals available. These questions will give you a much clearer picture in a single meeting.
1. What will you learn about my business before starting?
A serious agency asks about your numbers before quoting a price: how many customers do you get monthly, from which channel, what is your average order value? If a quote arrives in the first ten minutes with no questions, you are buying a packaged service, not a solution.
2. Who will actually work on my account?
Many meet the impressive person in the pitch, only for the work to go to someone else. Ask who writes the content, who designs, and who runs the ads.
3. Will the ad accounts and design files be in my name?
This one is decisive. The ad account, the pixel and the source design files should be yours from day one, so that if the engagement ends you are not starting from zero.
4. What exactly do I receive each month?
Number of designs, videos, campaigns and delivery dates. A written scope prevents misunderstandings later.
5. May I see a sample monthly report?
A good report answers three questions: what we spent, what we got, what we will do next month. If it is all reach and impressions with no cost per result, it is decoration.
6. Have you worked in a market similar to mine?
It need not be the identical sector, but the buying cycle should be comparable. Success selling a low-ticket product does not automatically transfer to a high-ticket service.
7. What can't you do?
This question reveals honesty. An agency that says "we do everything" usually does nothing particularly well. An honest one will tell you its limits.
The golden rule: any guaranteed-number promise ("we'll double your sales in a month") is a warning sign, not a feature.
